Legend Of The Temple

The Mythical Story Of The Temple Is Linked With Its Name. In The Temple Name, ‘Soma’ Means God Moon And Thus Whole Meaning Of The Temple Is The Protector Of God Moon. It Was Believed That God Moon Was Married To 27 Daughters Of King Daksh. However, His Love For His Only One Wife Was Partial. Due To This, His Wife Approaches To His Father For Justice. The Furious King Then Curses The Soma That He Would Wane. To Seek Forgiveness, Soma Then Prayed To Lord Shiva And Made A Shivlinga. Lord Shiva Partially Removed The Curse Of The King But In The Form Of Periodic Waning Of The Soma. The Temple Then Was Dedicated To Lord Shiva.

Architecture Of The Temple

The Current Temple Is Build In The Style Of Chaulukya Or ‘Kailash Mahameru Prasad’ Style Showing The Sompura Salats. The Height Of The Main Temple Is 15m, And It Has A Flag Pole Of 8.2m Tall At The Top Which Has The Symbol Of Nandi And Trishul. The Temple Is Constructed As Such That From The Temple And Antartica, There Is No Land In Between The Straight Line.

  • There Is No Fee For Entry To Visit The Temple. But The Ticket For Light And Sound Show Is Rs.25/- (Full Ticket) & Rs.15/- (Half-Ticket)

  • The Timing Of The Shrine Is From 6:00am To 9:30pm.
  • Aarti Timings- 7am, 12pm & 7pm.
  • The Temple Is Open On All Seasons But October To March Month Is Considered The Best Month To Visit The Temple.
